Twitter gives us one way of doing so by comparing number of followers they have so, for example, Newcastle United can boast 1.4million while Sunderland have 914,600.
Both big clubs, no question, although the numbers pale into comparison with the global giants of the game such as Real Madrid (33m), Barcelona (30.9m), Manchester United (20.3m), Arsenal (15m), Chelsea (13.4m) and Liverpool (12.6m).
But what about the other end of the footballing spectrum?
Ahead of Non-League Day on Saturday, October 12 – coinciding with the international break – we take a look at the non-league sides between Tyne and Tweed and the Twiter following they have. Who has the bragging rights?
Find out where your club ranks…. but remember it’s success on the pitch that counts!
