The rules mean there will be less indoor space to get warm, so visitors are encouraged to wrap up warm and be prepared for a magical outdoor Northumbrian extravaganza!

The Alnwick Garden has been working hard to ensure that Christmas 2020 is full of messages of hope, reunion and joy in what has been a difficult year.

“This year we are excited to be able to work with the Alnwick Chamber of Trade, Alnwick Town Council and numerous stakeholders to be able to include an additional light installation in Alnwick town that compliments the great work done by the Alnwick lights team.

"The intention is to send some much-needed footfall towards our local, independent retailers. There will be a fantastic projection in the Market Square which visitors will be able to experience in a safe, open environment.

James Ormsby from Alnwick Market has confirmed that the market will be reopening from December 3 and will be in the Market Square every Thursday and Saturday in the run up to Christmas.

Numerous independent retailers will not only be extending their opening hours into the evening but have also created some magical Christmas window displays.

Mayor Lynda Wearn said: “This is really good news for Alnwick and I would like to thank all those who have worked so hard to make what will be a very different Christmas a great Covid safe experience for visitors, residents and businesses in the town.”
