Beamish set to bring Christmas cheer online by holding video calls with Santa

Christmas at Beamish Museum is a yearly tradition for many across the North East and despite it currently being closed due to the Covid-19 lockdown, bosses are making sure that festive activities can still go ahead.

Families will be able to enjoy a video call with Santa, as he sits by the fire in his festive Edwardian cottage at the open air museum in County Durham.

There will also be the opportunity to invite other family members to join the call, meaning that no one will miss out on special moments this festive season.

Matthew Henderson, Product Development Manager at Beamish Museum, said: “We’re so excited to be able to welcome Father Christmas to Beamish and give people a chance to enjoy a magical video call with him.

“We know that a festive trip to Beamish is a tradition for many of our visitors, so, although the museum is currently closed during lockdown, we’re delighted that we can offer children the chance to meet Father Christmas virtually.

“It’s a great way to bring families together during these times and we’re so happy we can bring some festive cheer.”

Those wanting to have the complete Beamish experience can do so as the museum’s online shop remains open and a wide range of Christmas gifts are on offer.
