There are lots of great eating out options in Northumberland, with many restaurants putting on special Mother’s Day menus.
Here is our run down of 10 of the best places to ensure your mum has a lovely day out.
1. Alnwick Castle
You can’t go better than a special sumptuous Mother’s Day lunch at Alnwick Castle. In the hallowed chambers of the Castle’s Courtyard Restaurant, with its great doors opened especially for the day, Mum will feel like Queen of the world – which she is of course! The Castle’s chef has prepared a delicious, three-course selection of dishes to choose from which will suit the whole family. You will find at least three choices per course, plenty of vegetarian and fish options and mouth-watering, succulent roasts. Not to mention beautiful, melt-in-the-mouth desserts. Sunday lunch is £28.50 per adult (three course) and the children’s menu (or half portions) is £15. Lunch takes place between 12pm – 2pm. Advance bookings are essential to reserve a table. 2. Beadnell Towers
Beadnell Towers opened in summer 2019 following a £3m refurbishment which transformed it into an 18-bedroom venue, consisting of hotel, kitchen, bar and terrace, as well as a British-inspired menu. 3. Howick Hall
If your mum appreciates a good flower, take her to see the bright and breezy daffodils that cover Howick Hall’s gardens at the end of March. Nearly all planted by Lady Grey after she inherited the estate in 1963, you can spot her preference for white and pale yellow, single trumpet daffodils as they flutter in the breeze. Head indoors to sip on a steaming pot of Early Grey tea in the Tea House that was once the ballroom of the Grey residence, and order fluffy scones with generous pots of clotted cream and jam to lather them with.
