The Circus In A Field festival returns to Guyzance tomorrow (Friday) for an intensive week of training in traditional circus arts.

Presented by Let’s Circus, the event also features a public open day and children’s summer school.

An Acrobatics Intensive runs from Friday to Sunday, followed Tuesday to Friday, September 1 by a Circus Intensive covering all disciplines.

Other classes include hula hoop, unicycle, clowning, contortion, mime and knife-throwing, as well as safety.

The Marvelous Mavericks present the Wednesday night show.

And the Kids’ Summer School, for ages eight to 15, runs from Saturday to Wednesday, giving a fun-packed introduction to the circus world. Children can take part in all four days or just one.

On Monday Festival in a Day opens to the public, with world-class circus shows, music and refreshments.

Festival director Steve Cousins said: “The rural site is great for creating focused training, and Northumbrians get the rare opportunity to see quality, international, contemporary circus right on their doorstep.”
