A renowned theatre company is bringing the curtain down on its tour of a family-fun show at Alnwick Playhouse, which it has described as one of its favourite venues.

Oddsocks Theatre Company has been performing Wind in the Willows since mid-November, taking the classic tale to places such as Nottinghamshire and Warwick.

Its last stop is Northumberland and the final of three performances will take place at the Playhouse tomorrow.

And producer Elli Mackenzie, who also plays Mole in the show, believes it is the perfect place to go out with a bang.

She said: “We are really looking forward to finishing the tour at Alnwick Playhouse.

“It is one of our favourite venues, it is a lovely theatre in a picturesque town.”

The show is suitable for all ages and follows Mole, Ratty, Badger and Toad on an adventure of a lifetime, which unravels on the riverbank.

Elli admits that the play is a faithful recreation of the book and offers something for people of all ages.

She said: “What has been nice it that, throughout the tour, people have been coming up and thanking us for sticking to their memories of the novel.”

The show is on tomorrow at 7pm. Tickets are £12.50 premier, £11.50 standard and £8.50 child/student. Call 01665 510785 or visit the Alnwick Playhouse website
