It's panto time again and this year see the most magical tale of all

Christmas is just around the corner and teams are working around the clock on preparations for Cinderella '“ The Maltings Pantomime.

Prepare to be whisked away to a glittery world of ball gowns, magic pumpkins, glass slippers, magical fairy sparkle and some very ugly sisters with Berwick Maltings’ fully professional production of Cinderella, running from Saturday, December 15 to Sunday, December 30.

Berwick-based writer, director, producer, leader of The Maltings Youth Theatre and starring actress Wendy Payn is back at the helm.

As well as running activities behind the scenes and writing the new script, she is on stage as Toxie Tartington – Cinderella’s wicked step-mother.

Jonathan Ritchie charmed the audience in last year’s title role of Sinbad and he’s back this year as the handsome Prince Reginald (Reg the Ledge). Jonathan, a former student of Berwick High School, came through The Maltings Youth Theatre before pursuing a career in performing arts.

Euan McIver has worked in professional panto for more than 30 years and has dazzled with his quick-witted humour and spectacular costumes as Dame in all of the group’s pantomimes. This year he returns as Barbie Tartington (full name: Rhubarb Crumble Tartington), one of Cinderella’s ugly step-sisters.

Mark Vevers returns as the other-half of a spectacular comedy double-act – Star Tartington (full name Lumpy Custard Tartington), Cinderella’s other ugly step-sister. Mark has performed in a number of shows at The Maltings and is part of local improv comedy group, The Damp Knights.

Local favourite Ross Graham is back as the lovable Buttons. Ross joined The Maltings Youth Theatre at the age of 10, which he now helps to run. Ross is also a member of The Damp Knights.

And finally, Georgia Fordyce makes her debut performance at The Maltings in the titular role of Cinderella. Originally from the beautiful Moray coast in the North East of Scotland, Georgia studied musical theatre at MGA in Edinburgh and since graduating has performed many fantastic roles, including Fantine in Les Miserables at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Showings take place at various times across the run, from December 15 to 30.
