The Three Inch Fools, a national touring company acclaimed for their fast-paced and musically driven approach to Shakespeare, will be coming to two historic venues in Alnwick.

On July 10 and 11 they will be bringing performances of Hamlet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Alnwick Castle and Hulne Abbey.

On Tuesday, July 10, the Three Inch Fools will be at Alnwick Castle to perform Hamlet: Shakespeare’s masterpiece of loss and the supernatural, poetry and revenge. On the following night, audiences are then invited to the nearby Hulne Abbey, for A Midsummer Night’s Dream: the much-loved tale of runaway lovers, beguiling potions, magic and an unfortunate individual who gets turned into a donkey.

Five actors, with all manner of musical instruments and plenty of character-swapping, will present the inventive take on two of Shakespeare’s most renowned plays as part of their summer tour.

“We want to show Shakespeare off to everyone,” says Co-Founder and Director James Hyde, “and excite a whole new generation of Shakespeare lovers to get to know his plays in all their vibrancy. Through our own high-paced performance style and musical talents we would say we have found our own unique take on Shakespeare.”

The Three Inch Fools specialise in bringing Shakespeare to life in innovative and unexpected ways, through bold choreography and innovative sound-worlds.

Audience members are invited to arrive early to both events, and to bring a picnic to enjoy

Both performances take place at 7pm. See below for more.
