Devious magicians in Amble in first for rural touring scheme

Amble welcomes Maudsley and Shoesmith for an evening of mind-boggling magic and mind reading featuring lots of humour, astonishment and audience involvement this month.

Devious Minds is not just another magic show. It is a journey by two established members of the Magic Circle, with little in common other than wanting to do a show without compromise.

Shoesmith hits you with wit and sleight of hand. If you’re not laughing, you’re asking how?Maudsley tells you it’s a con from the start, but by the end you’ll believe he reads minds. He will change the way you look at a soft drink forever. Following two national tours and a run at the Edinburgh Festival, this has become a polished theatrical show and is now touring to a network of rural venues with the county’s touring scheme, Highlights. Mike Dixon, on behalf of Amble PCC which promotes the show, said: “As a church, we wanted to do something for the town and we felt that working with Highlights to promote quality live entertainment would be a great way to do so. This will be our first Highlights production, and we are delighted to have secured Maudsley and Shoesmith to do their Devious Minds show here in Amble.

“There will be a raffle and a licensed bar at the show, so people can enjoy a drink while they experience a really great evening’s entertainment.”

The performance, on Sunday, October 13, starts at 7.30pm in Amble Parish Hall on Dovecote Street. Tickets, costing £8, £7 conc, £5 under 15s, are available from N & F Young, in Queen Street, on 01670 760007 or online at
