Classic tale

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, Alnwick Playhouse, Thursday, February 3, 7.30pm. Tickets £12, £8 concessions.

Charterhouse Theatre Company perform a dramatic adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic tale of love and family.

Elizabeth and Jane Bennett try to follow their hearts’ desire despite their interfering mother trying to set them up with a number of suitors.

Lizzie must overcome her own prejudices and see past the rather abrupt and proud exterior of Mr Darcy to fall in love.

Pride and Prejudice has been specially adapted for the stage by award-winning writer Laura Turner who also adapted Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, which was performed by the Charterhouse Theatre Company on a tour before Christmas.

In previous years, the company has toured a variety of shows, from Shakespeare to Lewis Carroll.
