An acting skills workshop is taking place at Alnwick Playhouse next month.
Budding actors and those who want to brush up their skills, as well as those just wanting to find out more about acting, will be able to do just that at the two-and-a-half-hour workshop, run by Geoff Lawson, on Saturday, May 13.
The Acting Craft Class is being run by Alnwick Playhouse as part of its Arts Development Programme.
Geoff began his career as an actor, writer and director in his home town of Newcastle, working with companies such as Live Theatre, Bruvvers and Northumberland Theatre Company. He has a wealth of experience, performing in many West End shows, including Up on the Roof at the Apollo Theatre.
He has appeared in many television series, including The Bill, Spender, Peak Practice and Eastenders.
Geoff said: “Alnwick has a wealth of acting talent, which we see regularly on stage with exceptional performances from the Alnwick Stage Musical Society, Alnwick Theatre Club, as well as the youth groups, including the High School.
“The Acting Workshop will give people of all ages the chance to learn more about characterisation, pitching a scene, subtext and the dynamics of acting, and much, much more.”
Since the year 2000, Geoff has worked as a freelance writer/director. He is also founder and artistic director of Powerhouse Theatre Company.
He worked with Live Theatre in Newcastle, working with young people, devising and delivering a show performed at Live in March. He also recently directed Cinderella for Alnwick Playhouse Minis youth theatre.
The workshop costs £25 per person. Contact 01665 510785 for information or to book a place.
