Tonight, Tomorrow and Saturday, March 19: Disney’s Beauty and the Beast – Alnwick Stage Musical Society present a theatrical version of the classic film with all the magic of the original fairytale, enhanced by toe-tapping tunes and a stock of outlandish enchanted characters. 7.30pm plus a 2pm show on Saturday. Tickets £10, £9 conc, £6 under 12/student.

Saturday, March 19: Members’ Spring Exhibition – The Alnwick District Arts Association’s spring exhibition begins. Open during box office hours until Saturday, April 30.

Sunday, March 20: The Fureys and Davey Arthur – Music, songs and stories from legends of Irish music the The Fureys & Davey Arthur. 7.30pm. Tickets £16.50, £15.50.

Tuesday, March 22: Chekhov Shorts – The European Arts Company present a selection of one-act farces by the Russian playwright Anton Chekhov, proving he wasn’t all doom and gloom! 7.30pm. Tickets £11, £10 conc, £8 child/student.

Wednesday, March 23: Reach for the Sky (U; 135mins)

– As part of the nostalgic

film matinee season, a

film based on the true story of Douglas Bader who lost his legs in a flying accident but became a squadron leader at the Battle of Britain. 2pm. Tickets £6, £5.50 conc.

Wednesday, March 23: Black Swan (15; 108mins) – Psychological thriller. 7.30pm. Tickets £6, £5.50.

Thursday, March 24: A Night of Romantic Opera – Opera Box make a welcome return to the Playhouse with a night of music from composers including Puccini, Verdi, Bizet, Mozart. 7.30pm. Tickets £16.50, £15.50 conc, £10 child/student.
