Raise a glass and cash for charity at the same time

Beers from across the North East will be showcased at a festival this weekend.

The second Northumberland Beer Festival, which takes place in in Longframlington Memorial Hall tonight and tomorrow, will see 20 beers, two lagers, five ciders, Pimm’s and lemonade, sparkling wine and soft drinks onf offer.

The brainchild of Coquetdale Round Table, the event is being held to raise funds for HospiceCare North Northumberland, which helps and supports patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Last year’s inaugural event raised £1,500 for the charity and tablers are hoping to smash that target this year.

Beers from breweries such as Wylam, Mordue, Allendale, Anarchy, Coquetdale, VIP, Hadrian and Border, Cullercoats, Tempest and Turners will be on offer with a few special brews as well as some favourites.

The beer festival runs from 6pm to 11pm today and noon to 11pm tomorrow.

Tomorrow, until 6pm, activities will be on offer for youngster sto make it a family day out. Children will be able to enjoy a bouncy castle and face-painting.

Entry costs £5 and includes a commemorative glass and two drinks tokens. All soft drinks will be free.
