Square dancers Cripple Creek Cloggers brought a flavour of south-eastern America to Alnwick International Music Festival this week,
The Appalachian-style dancing with a clogging step originated in the Appalacian Mountains, with influences closer to home.
The earliest settlers from England brought with them songs, dances and stories, which were formed into a new tradition in the hills and valleys of the region, including the Cripple Creek Cloggers’ own state of Tennessee.
Their home town of Murfreesboro is in the geographical centre of the state.
