An afternoon of music takes place in Acklington on Sunday as part of the national One Big Gig weekend.
The music will be ringing out from the village hall from 1.30pm until late into the evening, starting with a singing workshop for all-comers from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, led by Flora Smith, who also leads Amble’s Harbour Lights choir.
An informal session with members of the Alnwick Pipers Society, who will be playing some beautiful traditional tunes, takes place from 4pm to 5pm.
KEVI Community Jazz Band, based at King Edward VI school in Morpeth will play a concert of toe-tapping tunes, from 6pm to 7.45pm.
After the concert, people are welcome to bring a picnic and food for a barbecue and continue to enjoy the hall’s garden for the evening.
Tessa Sayers, of Acklington Community Team, said: “We are delighted to be organising this exciting event as part of the national Our Big Gig celebration of music. The financial support we have been awarded means that all events are free to take part in and we hope that the varied programme will appeal to a wide range of local people and visitors.”
