Dana & Susan Robinson, The Queen’s Head Hotel, Rothbury, Thursday, July 21.
ROTHBURY Roots presents this duo from North Carolina, who play their own exciting blend of southern Appalachian mountain music and original songs of the American landscape.
The pair first met at a house concert in California in 2002 and now perform together with Dana on guitar and fiddle combined with Susan’s clawhammer banjo playing and harmony singing.
The two have also recorded three albums together with the latest, 2009’s Big Mystery, displaying their variety of influences from whimsical pop to Afro-Celtic strains.
Prior to teaming up with Susan, Dana released four solo albums from the mid-90s to the early-00s building up a reputation as a road warrior and journeyman songwriter.
And in two weeks’ time the journey takes them to Rothbury as part of their summer UK tour which also includes stops at the Ely Folk Festival and the famed An Tobar Arts in Tobermory on Mull.
