The new Coquetdale Music Trust in Thropton held a spellbinding evening for acoustic music fans last Friday.
MC was Roddy Matthews, a leading sponsor of the Trust, and himself one of Northumberland’s leading traditional musicians.
Guests for the evening were an amazing, talented duo – guitar maestro Chris Newman and world-famous Irish harpist, Marie Ni Chathasaigh.
Their music covered a wide variety of styles, including Irish, Scottish, Argentine, Spanish and American bluegrass tunes, with songs such as Molly St George, Beeswing, Old Joe Clark and The Lost Summer.
The next concert at the same venue is Alastair Anderson, concertina and Northumbrian pipes, tomorrow at 7.30pm.
