Musician looks for a fresh new angle

Acoustic Afternoons with Hague at Tomlinson’s of Rothbury, starts Sunday, May 6 at 3pm.

ALNWICK-based singer songwriter Hague (Mark Stenton) will be launching his weekly appearances next weekend.

It is a new direction for Hague that is driven by the desire to find a fresh angle for live music in Northumberland and the North East.

He said: “The local live music scene has traditionally been played out on evenings in pubs and clubs, with the exception of festivals, and we wanted to try something new in order to attract a wider audience.

“There’s still plenty of opportunity for musicians to perform in the local pubs, especially with the myriad of buskers nights that are running, but I’ve thought for a long time that afternoon sessions in coffee shops and bistros would work just as well.”

After approaching Jackie Sewell, owner of Tomlinson’s, and after performing at a few Bistro evenings there it was agreed to try out the afternoons on a trial basis.

It is hoped that a regular acoustic afternoon session can be established at Tomlinson’s along with other coffee shops, tea shops and bistros across Northumberland.

If there are any other establishments that wish to try out the acoustic afternoons they can contact Mark via email
