Inaugural ceilidh is branded a big success

The inaugural Warkworth Ceilidh Night has been hailed as a great success and organisers are planning another one next month.

The event was staged in the village’s Memorial Hall on Tuesday, March 10, and was attended by 70 people.

There was music from the Reel Northumbria Ceilidh Band and contribution from Warkworth troubadour Pete Burham.

There was also a song, Sandgate Girls Lamentation, from Barry and Ingrid Temple and an entertaining rendition of Sally Wheatley by Jim McGean.

The caller, Elaine Carter, from Corbridge, skilfully guided the dancers through such favourites as La Russe and The Oxo Reel.

The next event will be on Tuesday, April 14, at 7.30pm.
