An Alnwick choir and two school bands are coming together for a special performance this weekend.
The Duchess’s Community High School’s ceilidh band will be performing in the school hall on Friday night to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The event runs from 7pm and tickets are £5 each,
But on Saturday the band has teamed up with the Bailiffgate Singers and the high school’s Scandi band to perform at Longhoughton’s Westfield Park.
The ceilidh band has been highly-regarded for many years, playing at local events, and competitions.
Each year it is blessed with a new influx of competent players. Many of the band members also play in regional bands such as the Northumbrian Ranters and Folkestra.
The Scandi band was set up this academic year under the leadership of Margaret Watchorn. It is believed to be the first school Scandi band in the country and specialises in performing tunes from Scandinavian countries.Members of both bands rehearse each week under the watchful eye of Mrs Watchorn and Susie Cochrane.
The Bailiffgate Singers were formed in 2005 and now have around 40 members.
The concert takes place at 7.30pm.
