A folk music night in a north Northumberland village, which started three years ago, is going from strength to strength with a CD coming soon.
The Market Place Band held its latest successful music session at The Blue Bell Hotel, Belford, last week – with this months night having a Christmas theme.
The sessions started three years ago with four regulars and have now mushroomed to 24-plus musicians with the evenings held in the hotel’s 19th-century ballroom at 7pm on the first Monday of each month.
Organiser David Ratliff said: ”Three years ago, Alistair Anderson and musicians put on a concert here in the hotel ballroom to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance, since we started the folk night.
“By demand last week, we recorded a professional CD which will be released in January and sale proceeds will try to reach our target of £20,000 raised for an excellent cause.”
