An Alnwick choir is to lend its hand to help fund restore a historic Northumberland church by holding a special May Day concert.
The Alnwick Playhouse Community Choir is to perform at St Lawrence’s church in Warkworth to aid the ongoing repair work to the building.
Peter Brown, the choir’s conductor, said the whole topic is around May Day and themes associated with it.
The songs will include classics such as Now is the Month of Maying, Sally Gardens, Blue Moon, Moon River and Feeling Good.
The event also includes a special arrangement called Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer’s Day, written by Peter himself.
There will also be a selection of songs by four members of the choir who will form a barbershop quartet specially for the evening.
The repairs to the church have been ongoing for many years now and this is the latest effort to help boost the necessary funds to progress the restoration.
The concert is at St Lawrence’s in Warkworth on Friday, May 1, at 7pm. Tickets £5 on the door.
