THEY are described as one of the most original and exciting folk acts on the UK scene.

And next Thursday, Megson will make a welcome and long-awaited return to Rothbury Roots.

This award-winning duo are fast becoming hot property on the British folk and roots stage and their four albums, including new release The Longshot, have chronicled their blossoming creative talent.

Megson, comprising husband and wife Stu and Debbie Hanna, are three-time nominees in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and 2010 Spiral Earth Awards winners.

Hailing from Teesside, Megson draw heavily on this heritage to create their unique brand of folk music and their infectious sound is a mix of heavenly vocals, lush harmonies and driving rhythmic guitars and mandolas.
