Hide AdThe programme is set in the North East and follows Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope – played by Brenda Blethyn – and her team of officers as they solve murder cases for Northumberland and City Police.
This Sunday’s story, which will go out at 8.10pm, is called Parent Not Expected and is written by Colette Kane and directed by Rob Evans.

Hide AdThe body of 19-year-old apprentice electrician Dennis Bayliss is discovered on the shore of a North Northumberland rural estate.
Det Ch Insp Stanhope soon comes across the Walken family, who run a booming salmon farm off the coast of their land.
Dennis is the estranged son of Steph and Rob Bayliss, who are left crippled by his death, having lost him once already when he abandoned them find his biological father - Thomas Walken.
