A SHOWCASE of traditional music and dance will hit the right note this weekend at the Rothbury Traditional Music Festival.
The event, which runs from tomorrow until Sunday, is a small, friendly, community-based music festival set in Rothbury.
Over the last three decades it has established a unique atmosphere that has drawn musicians and singers from throughout the country and beyond to spend a weekend sharing music and experiencing Northumbrian traditions.
Organisers have worked hard to bring a varied line-up of musicians and dancers with some familiar faces and some new friends and this year’s event boasts a fantastic line-up including Tich Frier, High Spen Blue Diamonds, the Rothbury Highland Pipe Band and more.
There will be workshops, including Irish Dance, Fiddle and Song, and competitions.
A special event to launch the CD of the late Tom Matthews MBE, who was piper to the Duke of Northumberland, takes place at All Saints’ Church on Saturday from noon to 1.30pm.
Tickets for the festival are on sale from Rothbury Family Butchers and Coquetdale Visitor Centre, in Rothbury (01669 620887).
