HospiceCare North Northumberland’s annual Light up a Life remembrance services will be taking place at a variety of locations this week.
A service will be held this evening at St Cuthbert’s Parish Hall in Amble at 6pm, with another following at the Cheviot Centre in Wooler tomorrow at 6.30pm.
The services offer people the opportunity to take some time out ahead of the festive period to remember loved ones and reflect on their loss.
Members of local choirs will join the services to sing carols, and there will be a short time for reflection and prayer. Books of remembrance will be on display at the ceremonies and will also be available at hospices throughout the coming year.
Rebecca Taylor, a community and events fund-raiser at the Alnwick-based charity, said: “ Light Up A Life is always a very special evening.
“Everyone is welcome, and you do not need to have any connection with the hospice to attend. It can be comforting to join others at this time of year in remembering lost ones.”
The events are free to attend. If you wish to go along, call the charity on 01665 606515 to reserve a seat.
Also this month, the charity is opening a quiet room at Castleside House, Alnwick, for anyone to visit for some private reflection time.
They can also light candles and write messages on a tree to remember loved ones.
The room will be open until from 10am to 3pm daily until a week tomorrow.
Earlier in the week, events took place at Alnwick and Berwick’s HospiceCare centres, as well as at Seahouses Methodist Church.
