A Touch of Frost: Christmas Floral Demonstration – Alnwick and District Flower Club, Alnwick Playhouse, Friday, November 25, and Saturday, November 26

MEMBERS of the Alnwick and District Flower Club held their Christmas demonstration last week as they celebrate their 45th year.

The club presented A Touch of Frost, a display by national demonstrator William Dixon, in front of a packed Playhouse last Tuesday.

Two charity hampers were raffled to raise money for a charity voted for by members each year.

This year the money raised is to support the new chemotherapy suite at Alnwick Infirmary.

Flower arrangments donated by demonstrator Mr Dixon were also raffled off.

The annual show was moved to the Playhouse eight years ago and has proved to be a great success.

The club thanked the Playhouse management and staff for all their wonderful assistance over the years.

As part of the celebrations for their anniversary year, the committee is appealing to past and present members of the club for the use of any photos relating to the club. All would be returned to anyone who allows the use of their pictures.

The club holds a mixture of demonstrations, workshops and visits to gardens during the year.

Some members participate in competitions and have had many successes.

They also take part in the many church flower festivals around the region.

The group meets on the first Tuesday of most months at the Costello Centre, on Bailiffgate, at 7pm.

The club currently has more than 40 members of various ages, including Marie Cooke, who celebrated her 90th birthday this year, but new members are always welcome.
