Major changes have taken place at two village art centres.

Gallery 45, in Felton, has opened in-house artists’ studios.

Meanwhile, The Old School Gallery, in Alnmouth, is under new leadership.

The artists’ studios in Felton were unveiled on Sunday, April 27, by Judith O’Reilly, author of Wife in the North.

More than 250 people attended the ceremony and there was even a flash mob by members of Warkworth Community Choir, who began singing during the opening.

Those who have moved in are textile artist Cheryl Jackson, kite maker Frances Anderson, illustrator and artist Renira Barnes and artist Emma George.

Helen Grierson, of A1 Glass Studio, Paula Ansley, from Deerwood Photography, Judith Goodfellow, of Fine Fettle Hand Knits, and Lyndsay Stanton, from Awl by Hand leatherwork are also on the site.

Jane Mills, from the gallery, is delighted to have launched the new studios.

She said: “This is a way of all of us working together, to share resources, talent and expertise.

“There are a lot of people who are enthusiastic about bringing the arts to Felton.”
