FROM Friday, Alnwick will be celebrating a feast of food and drink as the seventh food festival kicks off.
Running until Sunday, it is joined on Saturday by the Alnwick Beer Festival, which takes place in the Town Hall.
The celebrity guest this year is Michelin-starred chef Jean-Christophe Novelli, who will be wowing the crowds with his culinary demonstrations in the Northumberland Hall on Saturday alongside chefs from top local eateries.
But there is also a chance for a more intimate evening with Jean-Christophe on the Friday night at the Dine with Novelli event where guests will enjoy a three-course meal and the chance to ask questions of the famous chef.
Among other highlights across the weekend is the battle of the belles in a cook-off between our very own Miss Northumberland Laura Hickey and Miss Sunderland Pip Attle on Sunday at 1pm.
Laura will be helped by Juan Iniesta of Blackmore’s while Pip will be accompanied by former Coronation Street actor Sean Wilson, who is returning to Alnwick with his Saddleworth Cheese Company.
On Saturday night there is a Northumbrian night in the Northumberland Hall with music, a cold buffet as well as ice cream from the award-winning, Amble-based Spurreli.
These special events are on top of all the stalls and producers that will be in the Market Place all weekend.
And there’s something for the kids as well as the Alnwick Garden will be hosting the Children’s Food Festival with a variety of entertainement and activities. Entry to the Garden is free upon purchase of a prize draw ticket after 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
