AN Alnwick museum is hosting an open art exhibition with a twist.
Alnwick has the Art Factor is the latest showcase at the Bailiffgate Museum.
Having started earlier this month, it features a colourful and vibrant display of a variety of original artworks by people from around the area.
But the twist? Visitors get to vote on the work they like the most, and the winner will be given the opportunity to exhibit at the museum at a later date.
Bill Matheson, museum administrator, said: “We knew that north Northumberland has a large pool of really talented artists who work in all sorts of media.
“We thought we would copy the television show X Factor and have a voting system and see what people liked.
“It pits experienced artists alongside complete amateurs and the exhibition is really diverse.”
The display, which runs until November 1, is already proving popular.
“We have had a good response. People have been voting and people have said there is a great variety, which shows the diversity of talent in the area,” said Mr Matheson.
The exhibition has attracted around 100 pieces of work.
He added: “It is nice to see we have had such a turnout from the artists and the great variety of people who have come forward, from the experienced people who are displaying their work for the 20th time to the brave people who are displaying their work for the first time. It is impressive.”
The museum is open daily, 10am to 4pm, and normal admission applies.
