A north Northumberland development trust is looking forward to the differences recent funding will make to its already successful and popular cinema service.
As previously reported in the Gazette, Seahouses Development Trust is celebrating a recent award of £10,000 from Santander’s Social Enterprise Development Awards.
The Trust set up the Seahouses Hub facility over a year ago, showing at least four films each month as well as live shows and music events. This has proved very popular with 240 people a month attending the various children’s, family and adult films just weeks after they go on national release.
Shirley Wright, youth and community project manager, said: “The grant has allowed us to buy extra equipment to enhance the cinema project, a lighting system for live performances, which can also be used by other organisations, and a scaler to enable the Trust to show DVDs, such as home-made films of past community events, through the digital projector.
“The award will also cover the costs of some staff time and pay for more marketing.”
