New exhibition inspired by Northumberland opens at The Sill

A new exhibition celebrating the distinctive characteristics of Northumberland has opened to the public at The Sill.

Inspired by Our Land captures the unique and special qualities of Northumberland National Park, showcasing artists who use it to inspire their work.

Housed in The Sill’s new gallery space, The Stell, the exhibition is open to the public until January 19.Featuring nine local artists, it offers an opportunity to admire the heart and soul of Northumberland National Park through original watercolours, photography, limited edition prints and ceramic.Claire Mason, Sill operations manager, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome the ‘Inspired by Our Land’ exhibition to The Sill and have the opportunity to celebrate the work of so many gifted local artists.“This exhibition brilliantly captures the beauty and unique qualities of the environment of Northumberland National Park and with so many different styles of art on display, there promises to be something for everyone.”Exhibitors include photographer Kit Saddington, printmakers Carol Nunan, Rebecca Vincent and Adele Burdon, watercolour artists David Holliday, Robert Newton and Charlotte Thompson and ceramicists Steph Jamieson and Melanie Hopwood.The exhibition is the start of The Sill’s festive event programming, events include a Christmas Fair on November 16-17 featuring over 30 local craft and food producers, activities and entertainment and Mission Im:Possible, the annual festive fun run at Walltown Country Park on December 21.All pieces in the exhibition are available to buy and it is open seven days a week from 10am to 4pm.
