An eye-catching sculpture exhibition has opened at The Alnwick Garden.

David Watkinson is one of the UK’s foremost kinetic artists.

He concentrates his work on nature’s form, shape and energy, engineering parts of his sculptures to illustrate laws of physics.

Sponsored by AON, seven sculptures, which symbolise nature’s evolution, harmony and drama, and exemplify David’s exploitation of symmetry, light and movement, are on display throughout The Garden.

The venue, which itself incorporates a range of water features demonstrating the influence of physics in the natural world and has been sculpted to optimise the visual and dynamic impact of its florae, provides a complimentary backdrop to these progressive pieces.

Depicting seed pods, leaves, fruit, gravity and water, the sculptures have been made using materials such as steel, aluminium and cold-cast bronze.

Watkinson’s exhibition is the first in what the attraction hopes to be a long series of resident artists at The Garden.

The exhibition runs until April 1, 2015.

Entry to the display is included in normal Garden admission.
