Rothbury Wrestling Academy has won the Academy Shield competition in a hard-fought contest at Wabberthwaite Academy.
The annual contest between five northern wrestling academies has been running for more than 30 years.
Teams are put forward for every category of wrestling and it is the total team points which win. Rothbury won by one point, narrowly beating Kendal.
Andrew Ord was also presented with a trophy for the best individual performance in the competition, winning all falls in both the 15-stone and all-weights categories.
The Rothbury team was: Max Bates, William Hindmarsh, Thomas Davidson, Harry Bertram, Joe Hale, Jacob Wragg, Andrew Sandercock, Andrew Ord and Lucy Singer.
Rothbury Wrestling Academy trains on Wednesday nights at Dr Thomlinson’s Middle School.
