Alnwick seemed to benefit from their break from league action last week as they bounced back from two defeats to win at lowly Horden.
Perhaps the main goal for the trip to County Durham for the north Northumberland side was to avoid the banana skin of losing to a side rooted to the bottom of North One East with just one victory this season.
However, while Alnwick ran out winners 39-22 – a margin of 17 points, they may not have been pleased to concede so many points against a side that has struggled this term.
Nonetheless, their industrious win included four tries – from A Gray, Burn (two) and Foy – and therefore secured a very welcome bonus point.
Meanwhile, the Seconds played 13-a-side against Medicals, eventually running out 65-5 winners while the Lions travelled down to Morpeth and ran out 27-19 winners in an end-to-end affair.
