Visitors battered

Alnmouth U15 v Bedlington U15

IT was the turn of Bedlington U15s to visit Alnmouth and Lesbury on Monday.

The visitors decided to bat first and seemed content with their total of 109 for 4.

Top-scorer for Bedlington was Will Herron with 41 not out, while Edward Brunton and Andy Marshall were the Alnmouth wicket-takers. When Alnmouth batted their openers Jonny Ridley and Alistair Batey showed they meant business from the first ball.

Ridley hit Jones for 15 off the first over including a huge six and they raced to their 50 partnership in the sixth over. They continued their excellent running between the wickets and placement of the ball until Ridley was well caught by Jones off Bailey for 40, with the score on 70. Batey continued to punish any loose deliveries and retired not out with 50 in the 13th over. After the dismissals of John Briggs and Alex Robson, it was left to Will Young and Edward Brunton to see their side to a comfortable victory by seven wickets, with three overs to spare.
