Village and Bell lift cups

CELEBRATIONS were in store at the oche on Friday as Alnmouth Village and Bell Bar B were crowned champions of their respective divisions with a week to go in the Alnwick Premier Darts League.

The Village tied up the Division A title for the first time with a 4-3 victory over last season’s champions Alnwick Gate A, ensuring there was a new name on the league championship trophy.

It was a true clash of the heavyweights, with the scores 2-2 after the singles and 3-3 after the doubles, before the Seasiders clinched the team legs to win the match and the title.

Dennis Williams hit 180 along the way, while there were big finishes of 100 by Kev Fletcher, 108 by Dennis Williams, 118 by Mick Davidson, 152 by Chris Goodwin and 160 by Mick Douglas.

Bell Bar B lifted the Division B title, romping to the league crown with a 6-1 victory against bottom side Tanners Arms B, with Graeme Shell hitting a 124 finish.

It has been a great season for the Bell, who have led the division from start to finish, guided very ably by Davy Lundy, who has inspired his side to some great darts along the way.

Elsewhere, Oddies B beat their A side 6-1 in the Division A derby, with Kieran Hogg hitting a 180 for the B team and M Dean scoring the point for the A.

Other top-flight clashes saw Farriers A beat John Bull 6-1, with Chris Copper lone points scorer for the Bull, while Alnwick Gate B beat George A 5-2, although some consolation for the George was a 180 from Lee Harrison.

In Division B, second-placed Blue Bell A beat RAFA Club 5-2, with Dave Grey landing a maximum for the victors, while George B beat Farriers B by the same scoreline.

At Alnwick Working Men’s Club, a derby clash saw the B side beat the Club’s A team 6-1.
