Alnmouth & Lesbury II (156-5) v Greenside II (138)
On Saturday, a strong Alnmouth & Lesbury seconds hosted the unbeaten Greenside.
The visitors won the toss and put the home side in.
The Greenside opening bowlers of Brown and Barker proved to be a challenge and Alnmouth made a steady but unspectacular start with all batsmen making double figures. Hodgson added some impetus in the middle of the innings, but the experienced Carrick had him caught when attempting one big shot too many.
The bowlers continued to have a grip on the innings as the home team proved unable to accelerate at the end.
In reply, Greenside started to make the target look easy, taking the total to 40-0 after 10 overs, when McDonnell entered the attack.
He immediately had Collingwood caught behind and this was followed up by two wickets in an over from Robinson.
Soon the score was 67-6 and the home side were scenting a rare victory. Lintern and Barker then knuckled down and added 40 until McDonnell again made the breakthrough.
The game was in the balance, but the home side ran out winners by 18 runs.
