Travellers find their way to top

Alnwick Premier Darts League, A Division

The Travellers go top in Division A with a 7-0 thrashing of Team Dinga, helped by a maximum from Mick Douglas, a 105 checkout from Steve Dunn and two 180s from Chris Goodwin.

After a poor start to the season, the Gate Bar A bounced back with a 7-0 whitewash of The John Bull.

AWMC B travelled to Shilbottle Club, but came away empty-handed, trounced 7-0 by an in-form Club A team.

AWMC Bar entertained Gate Blue Stars. Davy Pentleton and Mick Armstrong took the first two points for the Club. Ryan Kent pulled one back for the Stars only for Alan Mole to add to the Club’s tally. With the points in the pairs shared, the Club took the teams to win 5-2.

B Division

The Market Tavern played host to Oddfellows A. Playing some great darts, the Market won all four singles. With points shared in the pairs, Tavern took the teams to win 6-1 and go top of the B Division.

In a very close game, AWMC A played Farriers, sharing the points in the singles. Both pairs games were won by The Farriers with Darren Melbourne hitting a 115 checkout. The Club A took the team game which left the final score 4-3 to the Farriers.

Penny Black took an early 3-1 lead against Alnwick Castle Golf Club. Ian Ferguson pulled one game back in the singles then another in the pairs with his partner Duy Lam. Baz Elliott and Hal Heggarty won their pairs game, but the Golfers took the team game to make the final score Penny Black 4-3 Alnwick Castle Golf Club.

The Fleece recorded their first win of the season playing Shilbottle Club B. They took an early 3-1 lead in the singles. Points were shared in the pairs spurring Fleece to win the team game and take the match 5-2.
