Eight Harriers took part in the Newcastle Parkrun on Saturday, the highest number for some time.
Eddie Longstaff, taking part in his first Parkrun, finished first of the eight.
However, the highlight was Annabel Lillico, who was taking part in her first race for ages due to injury.
Annabel has been performing very well in Wednesday nights’ Jackie/Kim training group, putting in some extremely good work, which enabled her to knock more than 80 seconds off her 5k pb.
Pauline Aitchison was first in the female 40 category. John Callaghan was also having his first race for a long time, Alex Reed made her Parkrun debut, Tim Shepherd made his Newcastle debut, while the Bastons are nearing 100 Parkruns.
Results: 27-Eddie Longstaff 20.26; 55-Annabel Lillico 21.47; 64-Pauline Aitchison 22.09; 72-Phil Baston 22.26; 93-John Callaghan 23.02;104-Charlotte Baston 23.15; 144-Alex Reed 24.08; 379-Tim Shepherd 33.56.
Once again, the fastest Harrier of the day was Danny Richardson at Whitley Bay. In a field of more than 300, Danny was fifth in 18.57.
Finally at the Workington Parkrun, Gay and Richard Eastoe were competing in their first Parkruns.
Gay secured the highest WAVA score of the day by finishing 34th in 26.25. She was first in the female 60 category and after 33 events at Workington, Gay holds the female 60 course record. Husband Richard was one place further back in 35th.
Also that day, Diana Weightman was the sole Alnwick representative at the Northern Cross-Country Championships held at Knowsley, Merseyside.
In awful conditions, Diana battled through mud, wind and a blizzard to finish a very good 132nd of the 232 runners.
