A major equestrian event which will attract top-class competitors is being staged later this month.

The Burgham International Horse Trials take place from Friday, March 27, to Sunday, March 29.

Burgham has acquired international status for this month’s competition, as well as a showcase in the summer, which runs from July 30 to August 2.

With that in mind, there are high hopes for the 2015 spectacles.

An event spokeswoman said: “The Burgham International Horse Trials are a major sporting coup for the region, attracting several International riders from many nations, with Olympic medallists and previous Badminton and Burghley winners taking part.

“There will be close-up action of the dressage, show-jumping and cross-country.

“We are the only event in the North East to have international status. The Burgham committee works hard and caters for grass roots riders all the way to international competitors, running classes from BE90 to CIC 3.

“Our past events have been extremely popular with riders and spectators.

“Burgham hopes to build on its success year on year and we look forward to welcoming people to both our March and July international events.”

Burgham aims to cater for everyone and attractions include a range of trade stands.

Burgham International Horse Trials have agreed another sponsorship deal with the Owen Pugh Group. The civil engineering firm is the event’s title sponsor.

Last year’s competition attracted event riders from 10 different nations, including competitors such as former Olympic gold medallist Blyth Tait, from New Zealand, and former British squad member, Piggy French.
