Today’s highlights at the Olympics: Wednesday, August 1

These are some of the events to look out for today at London 2012.

As the hunt for Team GB’s first gold goes on, many people are looking no further than this year’s Tour de France champion, Bradley Wiggins, in the cycling time trial.

Any medal for the four-time Olympian would take him to a total of seven medals – a record for a Briton.

Teammate and runner-up in France Chris Froome is also in with a shout, while the women will look to build on Lizzie Armistead’s brilliant silver in the road race.

Brits will be also being going for gold in the water today.

This morning at 11.50am, Helen Glover and Heather Stanning are in the finals of the women’s pairs in the rowing. They set an Olympic record getting to this stage.

The men’s eights finals also takes place today at 12.30pm.

Then this evening in the pool, in the men’s 200m breastroke, Michael Jamieson and Andrew Willis qualified first and third fastest from the semi-finals.

Elsewhere, Andy Murray and Laura Robson team up in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon, the GB men’s team take on Uruguay in the football and the gymnastics men’s individual all-around takes place. Remember the GB men took bronze, nearly silver, in the team event.
