Today’s highlights at the Olympics: Thursday, August 2

These are some of the event to look out for today at London 2012.

Olympic spirit is alive and kicking in the Team GB camp after a great day yesterday.

And the start of track cycling today at the velodrome will raise hopes of further medal success for the hosts.

From 4pm, Victoria Pendleton and Sir Chris Hoy will be involved in the team sprint.

Earlier today, at 12.17pm, Team GB’s men’s lightweight four of Richard Chambers, Peter Chambers, Rob Williams and Chris Bartley go for gold in the rowing.

Their form suggests that victory is a real possibility, but Olympic champions Denmark are the major threat.

Tonight, in the pool, Fran Halsall goes in the women’s 100m freestyle final at 8.37pm.

Also involved in swimming action will be Briton James Goddard, who goes in the men’s 200m individual medley final, while earlier in the day, Rebecca Adlington starts the defence of her 800m freestyle title.

Today also sees a number of GB teams in action.

Highlights include the men’s basketball side taking on their Spanish counterparts at 8pm while the women’s hockey players face Belgium at 7pm.
