The weather proves to be more than a match for most

Very few fixtures involving teams from north Northumberland were completed on Saturday due to rain.

In Division A1 of the Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League, Alnmouth and Lesbury I made 115-4 before the game was called off. Tom Vickers (46) and Callum Batey (36) were the top-scorers.

Alnwick firsts and seconds also started their games in Division A2 and B2 respectively, bowling at Bedlington. In the one’s match, they were 110-3 at the close, while in the twos’ clash, they were 119-2.

In the Northumberland Cricket League, Premier Division, Tillside (155-9) lost by four runs at Stocksfield (159-4), while Corbridge made 110-7 before a collapse saw Warkworth bowled out for just 44.

Meanwhile in Division Three, the only completed game saw Howick bowled out for 69, thanks to incredible bowling figures of six wickets for five runs from Robert Matthewson, before Wooler made 70-2.

l Alnmouth and Lesbury Under 15s clinched the Northumberland Junior North and Coastal League title on Monday night with an 89-run victory over Ashington. Batting first, Alnmouth posted 131-3 in their 20 overs before bowling out Ashington for 42 in 18.3 overs. The Alnmouth youngsters now play Stocksfield in the overall county final.
