Darlington 5 Alnwick 31

Alnwick Rugby Club’s young guns once again showed that the future is bright for the Greensfield outfit.

Last Saturday, an U16/U17 development side smashed Darlington 31-5 in a friendly encounter.

The Darlington drubbing came hot on the heels of the invincible Colts side winning the Northumberland and Durham U18 Saturday League title with two matches to spare.

But the Colts aren’t quite finished. The talented side is aiming to complete their league campaign unbeaten.

Next up is Westoe on Saturday, before the final league encounter of the season against Percy Park on Saturday, April 19.

The unbeatables will then turn their attention to the cup final at the end of the month against Morpeth.

The omens are good. Alnwick have beaten their county rivals twice this season, including victory in the first Nathan Thomas Moore Memorial Cup – played in honour of the former Alnwick Colt who died last year.
