Twenty-six brave Junior Harriers aged eight to 17 gathered on Alnmouth beach on Sunday, December 15, for the annual 2k handicap race.
A strong cold easterly wind whipped off the sea making running conditions testing.
However, nobody was deterred and coaches Brenda and Sue had done a fine job of awarding the handicaps so nearly all the field finished within two of minutes of each other.
Overall winner was Ciara Healey followed closely by Darren Matthews then Lauren Brown in third place.
Only six seconds separated the three runners and they showed great determination to hold their positions in the sprint for the finish.
Everyone ran well and there were some exceptional individual performances. However, as a club they all demonstrated great team spirit and sportsmanship.
The club has thanked all the runners and their parents who turned out to support them in freezing conditions.
On Tuesday, December 17, Alnwick Harriers Juniors held their Christmas party and award ceremony.
