Swimmers brave the cold water

A hardy group from Alnwick Sea Swimmers travelled to Lake Windermere to take part in the Big Chill Swim – battling water temperatures of five degrees.

Several members from the group raced alongside ice swimmers from Finland, Russia, Estonia and Germany.

Alnwick put together three relay teams and entered individual races of 60m and 120m.

Those to take part were Jane Hardy, Dorothy Mills, Phillipa Sharp, Christine Smith, Rachel Bowyer, Sylvia Bland, Jane Stevenson, Jane Freeman, Kathleen Spoor, Matt Long, Alison Rennie, Pete Kelly and Maurice Walton.
