Gazette readers are being encouraged to nominate their sporting stars for an annual prize-giving ceremony honouring dedication and success.
Alnwick and District Sports Council is holding its awards night at Alnwick Playhouse on Wednesday, April 15.
The free event starts at 7pm and the guest of honour will be Sky Sports News presenter Tom White, who was brought up in Alnwick and used to submit cricket reports to the Gazette when he was a teenager.
The awards ceremony is a celebration of sporting excellence and commitment and is a highlight in the local sporting calendar.
To ensure that the standard is kept as high as possible, the Gazette has once again teamed up with the Sports Council to encourage people to nominate their stars.
Categories are senior male and female, senior achievement, senior and junior teams, most improved sportsperson, volunteer of the year, service to sport, coach of the year and club of the year.
There are also junior (18 and under on January 1, 2015) male, female and achievement categories.
Those eligible for nominations are individuals residing in, or playing/competing for a club/team based in, the Alnwick and district area or clubs and teams with their headquarters in the Alnwick district and surrounding area.
People are being encouraged to nominate individuals and teams by completing the form, which is available in today’s paper. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, March 25.
