Alnmouth and Lesbury recorded a comfortable seven wicket win over Leadgate in the Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League on Saturday.
Leadgate batted first, but on a wicket not conducive to run-making, they lost a few early wickets and never recovered.
At one stage they were 39-8 and Alnmouth looked as if they might skittle them for less than 50.
Daniel Gowland was Leadgate’s top scorer on 21, but his team-mates had no answer to the bowling of Edward Brunton and Nicholas Denton who took eight wickets between them, finishing with figures of 4-20 and 4-27 respectively.
Russell Hughes (29) and Callum Batey (20), took Alnmouth to the verge of victory, with Tom Vickers hitting an unbeaten 28 to take them over the line.
