Tillside v Bamburgh Castle
In their best performance of the season, Bamburgh travelled to Etal and beat Tillside by seven wickets on Sunday.
Bowling first, the Bamburgh bowlers restricted Tillside to 158-9 in their 40 overs despite good knocks from Lee Dickson, 46, Liam Hindmarsh, 36, and young Ross Hindmarsh with a patient 20.
The pick of the bowling was Tom Lakey with a season’s best of 5-22, who was ably assisted by Andrew Wright with 2-20. Other wicket takers were debutant Graham Summers (1-14) and Lawrence Reeves (1-34).
When Bamburgh batted they lost two quick wickets for 26 before a stand of 52 by opener Harry Lobb and Lawrence Reeves led the recovery before Lobb was out for 30 which brought Rory Gibson to the crease. He and Reeves nudged the ball all around the to add the 81 runs required to win the match in the 33rd over.
Reeves finished with a brilliant 65 not out in 68 balls and Gibson a sound 36 off 47 balls.
This was a good all-round performance by the Seasiders, who also beat Rothbury Village in a 20/20 match on Friday scoring 132-2 and restricting Rothbury to 57-7.
